I’m sorry I didn’t update yesterday, I got called into work unexpectadly from 5-9pm.  Anyways.

Little Miss Sunshine.  At Amanda B.’s request, I will not say that I didn’t like it.  I did like it, but it wasn’t what I thought it would be.  I was hoping that it was going to be hilarious, but I didn’t think so.  It had funny people in it.  Steve Carrell and Greg Kinnear.  But I only laughed a couple times and it wasn’t even double-over laughter.  The little girl was great.  She was nominated for a Screen Actor’s Guild award, but she didn’t win.  When they cut to her after the winner was announced, you could she see was dissapointed.  But anyways.  I was also hoping that the son would be better looking.  He had a wierd face.  I’m spoiling.  The part of the movie I liked was at the end when she is doing her talent at the pageant.  It’s a dance to Rick James’ Super Freak.  It was an excellent dance, but it wasn’t tasteful in the eyes of the pageant people.  But the dance was a bit ruined when the family got up on stage and danced with her.  I understand where they were coming from, but still.  She was better at the dance than they were.  I do suggest that you see it, though.  It’s one of those indie films that is always worth viewing.

Sorry for being a quick one, I have to go to class.  Once again, can I please ask for other people to suggest movies.  Amanda B. can’t do it all by herself.

This movie is another good 80s flick.  The Karate Kid.  Ralph Maccio’s famous role.

This movie shows the best way to get karate lessons.  You don’t even know that you’re taking them.  Daniel thought that Mr. Miyagi was being a dick, but he wasn’t.  He was teaching him how to be a fighter.  Daniel needed to beat up Johnny Lawrence played by William Zabka.  If you have no clue who William Zabka is, then you missed out on the 80s.  He was the ultimate school bully.  In every film he did he was always the asshole who wanted to/beat up the nerds/dorks/dweebs/spazzs’.  But in the end, he always gets a taste of his own medicine and there was no exception with this movie.  Spoiler alert!  Danielson beats the crap out of Johnny and his Cobra Kai shit.  Though, Daniel doesn’t fair very well himself.  Good movie, I suggest you see it.  But just the first one, the other 2, especially the third movie, weren’t too good.  Though I don’t suggest you try the “wax on, wax off.”  I don’t think it actually works.  If you want to learn karate, sign up at your local gym or karate place.  But you won’t have Mr. Miyagi as your Sensei, usually it’s a white dude with long hair, sort of like a Stephen Segal persona.

I want to give a special thanks to Amanda B.  She is the only reader who suggests movies for me.  I want to encourage all my readers to leave me movies.  Thanks again.

This movie is one of Steven Spielberg’s best, but he has many.

Any little kid growing up who loved dinosaurs loves this movie, I’m sure.  Now I’m not a big dinosaur fan myself, but this movie draws me in.

Yes folks, I’m talking about Jurassic Park.  The original.  Not the second or third.  The first one.  I LOVE IT!  The dinosaurs look sooo real.  The animatronics and the CGI are excellant.  If I was working on that set, I would still believe that those creatures were real, even if I knew they were fake.  It’s a great adventure.  I wish I was able to see it in the movie theater because I was told that the sound was stunning.  It was 1993 and I was 6.  When I first saw it, I was afraid, especially at the part when the goat’s leg is thrown on top of the car.  I didn’t like it when that part was coming.  But now it’s one of my favorite parts.  It’s scares the crap out of the vegitarian 12-year-old girl, Lex.  This movie also introduced me to Jeff Goldblum.  I don’t know why, but I was obsessed with his character, Ian Malcolm.  To this day, he’s my favorite character.  He is a jerk and a smartass, but he’s awesome.  Another favorite scene of mine, and of all of my friends, especially one of them, is the scene where the T-Rex comes through the top of the SUV and tries to eat Lex and Tim.  We all laugh at that part.  We even re-enacted it in my Dad’s Durango.  However, I’m sure if that happened to any of us, we would all be shitting our pants.  So many people die in this movie.  I know, that’s horrible.  But it’s not like they die any old-fashioned way like being shot or stabbed, but they get eaten.  EATEN BY A DINOSAUR!  Though, you don’t actually see any flesh or blood, but you know.  I think the best dinosaur-eating man scene is when the fat guy (he played Newman on Seinfeld) gets eaten by the spitting dinosaur.  I know the name of it but I don’t know how to spell it.  The thing spits it’s poison in his face multiple times and then eats him in the car.  Oh, it’s so good.  If you haven’t seen this movie then I shun you.  Rent, borrow, whatever, just see it.  I have seen it a kajillion times.  I own the DVD and VHS and whenever it’s on TV, I watch it.  I know almost all the words, and I know whats coming up next, but I still love it.

That’s all.

P.S. I received a creepy comment from a fellow blogger who I do not know.  Please do not leave anymore comments, sir.  And no one leave creepy comments unless I know you.  Thank you.

The Greasers

Ok folks, this movie is also a book.

The Outsiders.  Woah, amazing, I love it.  This has every B-List (and some a-listers) imaginable.  I read this book in Jr. High and my friend introduced me to the movie.  I love it.  It’s fantastic.  It’s got Patrick Swayze, Matt Dillon, Ralph Macchio, Emilio Estevez, and Rob Lowe.  I don’t know the name of the main character.  The character’s name is Pony Boy, though.  Everyone has a wierd ass name.  But that’s one of the reasons why this movie is so good.  It’s about the Greasers who live on the other side of the tracks.  The hate the Socs’, a.k.a. the Socials.  They get into all kinds of trouble.  I suggest you read the book, if you haven’t, but then go out and see the movie right away.  You don’t want to miss out on a good thing like this.  Matt Dillon is my fave.  He’s hottttt!  Woo.  And of course, you gots to love the Swazye.  I’m sorry this is so short, but I’m in a rush.

Loves.

I don’t know what took me so long to review this movie. I meant to, but I forgot. Amanda B. reminded me. Thank you very much. Now without further ado, I shall review The Breakfast Club.

This is probably the best John Hughes movie out there. And the best Brat Pack movie. It’s 1984 in Illinois. Five high schoolers are in Saturday detention for various reasons. All of them have nothing in common except for that fact that they’re there. Their principle is a huge dick. Who is my favorite character? John Bender, of course. Played by Judd Nelson who was pret-ty good-looking in the 80s. I have a thing for hair, and in this movie, it was wonderful. Oh yeah, Emilio Estevez is pretty awesome, too. Anyways, back to the movie. It has the best lines you will ever here. I really don’t know what to write for this movie because it’s that good. If you haven’t seen this, then you committed a crime. There are so many good parts. The lunch scene, I enjoy. When they’re dancing after getting high. I’m seriously having writers block with this movie. It’s that good! If you haven’t seen it, then I don’t want to spoil anything. But please see it! You need to. This movie it the star of the 1980s teen flicks. I was/am not a big fan of Pretty in Pink or 16 Candles. I do like Saint Elmo’s Fire. All 3 are also John Hughes/Brat Pack. The Breakfast Club is real. Many teenagers have experienced or do experience what those 5 people went through. What they show on the outside is not how they feel on the inside. They all have serious feelings and emotions. If you were not in their cliques, or their friends, or lived with them, then you don’t even know how they feel. As my Sociology teacher in HS said, “These kids are messed up.” Maybe that’s true, but if you needed to blame someone, blame their parents. I’m sorry I don’t have more for you, but like I said, just go see it!

Dance

I got my first suggestion in a while (besides the one my mom sent me.  Don’t worry, I’ll get to that one.  I’m building up to it.).  So anyways, Amanda F. reminded me of my guilty pleasure.

Center Stage.  I love it.  It’s so good.  I don’t know what it is that attracts me, but I can tell you one thing, it’s not the romance part.  I think it’s the dancing.  My favorite character is the gay black guy, O Jones after Oprah.  My favorite parts are when the main character gets a dance class outside of the ABA.  It’s such a fun scene.  And then the end dance with Jamiroquai’s song.  It’s a good time.  I don’t know why I call it my “guilty pleasure” because I have so many others, but whatever.  All I have to say is that I likey the dancing and what’s his face is hot.  Not Cooper and not the Russian or the gay guy.  Last year, my suitemates were obsessed with that movie.  I think we watched it like 1000 times.  I kid you not.  If not all of us were watching it at the same time, one of definitely was.  The dancing is so good.  I think that that female teacher looks like Jennifer Aniston, but no one agrees with me.  And the director has huge eyebrows, but everyone knows that.  And he doesn’t look like someone who used to dance ballet.  For those of you who don’t know who I’m talking about, it’s that man from The OC.  I think he’s a lawyer?  Am I right?  I don’t know, I do not watch that show at all.  If you haven’t seen this movie, I do suggest it.  It’s nice.

A Play on Words

Today was Leadership Day at my school.  Mainly we talked about diversity.  But they took us to see a movie.  We saw Freedom Writers.

This movie wasn’t what I expected it to be.  I wasn’t really in the mood to see it at all, but when it was over, I was glad.  Hilary Swank did a great job, as usual.  I am sure she got an Oscar nod for it.  McDreamy was in it, but his character was rude.  What made me interested in the movie was the gang situation.  I am interested in gang stuff.  I’m not saying I want to join one, but I think you get the point.  It’s hard to talk to you about this movie without anyone who hasn’t seen it.  It is a new release, so I’m sure few of you have.  I recommend this movie to anyone.  But don’t go in there expecting to not shed a tear.  I didn’t, but that’s because I don’t cry during movies, but it was an emotional film.  It was based on a true story and there is a book.  I think I want to read the book.

Movies!

Just my movies for now

Is anyone reading my blog or am I just typing for no one but myself?  C’mon people!  Since I have no movie suggestions yet again, I will be pulling one out from my own collection.  It’s another silly one.

Has anyone ever been a camp counselor at an over night camp that lasts for the entire summer?  I know of one person, but I don’t think she reads this.  Well, they would understand about the movie I’m going to tell you about.  The movie is Wet Hot American Summer.  It was made in 2001 but it’s about the last day of a camp in Maine in 1981.  The cast is hilarious.  Michael Ian Black, Paul Rudd, Janeane Garofalo, David Hyde Pierce, and Chris Meloni are some of the famous cast members in it.  It is a wonderful spoof of a camp.  The main subject in the movie is about who loves who.  If you haven’t found anyone to make out with by the end of the summer then you’re basically a loser.  The counselors are the ones who are portrayed in this movie, except for a couple of campers.  My favorite character is Michael Ian Black’s character, McKinely.  He’s the best.  Then there is Gene played by Chris Meloni.  He has the best lines in the entire movie.  I am also a fan of Amy Poehler’s character, Susie.  She’s one tough “pro-, directer/choreographer.”  The directors/writers are Michael Showalter and David Wain.  They are funny guys and have done a few other projects.  They have a show that was on Comedy Central called Stella that Showalter, Wain, and Black star in.  I really suggest that you watch this movie.  It will make you laugh.  It is a really stupid movie, so be aware.

Please suggest!  I don’t care if I don’t even know you.

Whoops

Hey readers.  I’m so sorry for not updating yesterday.  I have been really busy with RA training.  We have a lot to do.  Thankfully I’m mostly done with the stuff I have to do before my residents come back on Wednesday.  All I really need is to think of a program to do for this month.  Anyways, I got one movie for you.  No one suggested anything, so this is from my personal likings.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles:

Heroes in a Half Shalf, Turtle Power!  Growing up with an older brother, you tend to watch the same things on TV that he does (when you’re younger).  We watched the Ghostbusters cartoon and the TMNT cartoon.  That was a good cartoon.  Since it was such a good show, the TMNT people decided to make it into a live-action movie.  It was interesting to see how they were going to make these cartoon turtles into real live… things.  Well, they did an excellent job.  The fighting is awesome, Splinter was creepy, and sickly, looking, Shredder was a cool villian, April was a pretty heroin, and Casey Jones was a sexy ally.  Yes, I am a little bit of a Casey Jones fan.  For you non-TMNT enthusists, Casey Jones was a semi-super hero who used sports equipment as his weapons.  My favorite place in the movie is Shredder’s lair.  It’s where all of his followers go to hang-out.  Most of his followers are teenagers who are a bad influence.  But the place is really cool.  They got tons of video games, there’s pool, and a cool skateboard ramp.  But I don’t think I would join the Foot Gang just to go there.  Anyways, this movie is so good that they decided to make 2 more movies.  However, those didn’t go over very well.  In the 3rd one, Shredder becomes a giant.  It’s weird.  I suggest you see it if you liked to cartoon, or even if you didn’t ever see the cartoon.

Movies, anyone?  Please.

Okay, so today I got 2 movies for you.  Well, actually 1 movie and 1 movie genre.  Today I’m reviewing Dazed and Confused and Lifetime movies.

First:

“Slow ride, take it easy.”  Dazed and Confused is fantastic.  It was made in 1993 and it reflects the last day of school in 1976 Texas.  We see the incoming seniors and incoming freshmen.  The incoming seniors have a tradition to follow and that is to haze the incoming freshmen.  The boys get paddled and the girls get bitched at and food thrown on them.  There are a lot of B-list celebs and a couple A-list celebs in this movie.  Ben Affleck is in this movie as well as Matthew Maconohay.  Ben Affleck is a totale asshole in this movie.  His character is not liked by anyone, and yet people still like him.  Matthew is a creep.  He’s a 30 year old who likes high school girls.  His best line, “I get older and they stay the same age.”  He is such a creep in this movie, but you gotta like him.  This movie has the best music in it.  It’s all classic rock from the 70s.  I sing along to all the songs in this movie.  It’s great.  And let me give a shout out to the muscle cars in this movie, too.  They are fabulous.  Amanda B. wanted to make out with every car in that movie.  And if you haven’t guessed by the title of the movie, they smoke a lot of weed in this movie.  A lot.  There are only a few people who aren’t stoned.  One character is wasted the entire movie.  Favorite character[s] are the nerdy guys and gal.  Love ’em.  Watch the movie and you’ll know who I’m talking about.  If you haven’t seen this movie, go now.  It’s funny.

Second:

Lifetime.  Lifetime has created their own genre of movies.  In this genre there are basically 2 categories.  The first category is abused/battered spouse/girlfriend/child, the second is teen pregnancy, the third is eating disorder.  Am I missing any others?  I have only seen 3 Lifetime movies, they’re not really my favorite thing to watch.  I know a few of my friends love them, though.  In my Food and Nutrition class in high school we watched 2 eating disorder ones and a teen pregnancy one.  I don’t know why the pregnancy one was thrown in.  All of these movies have a moral to them.  They make you cry (a whole lot), and laugh a little (not much, though).  I never understand why people can watch these things.  I for one think that they’re boring.  But some people can sit down on a rainy day with some popcorn and tea and watch these movies all day.  I give kudos to those people.

Suggestions?
