Wow, I got a lot of comments on the last post. I appreciate it, but if you can keep the nonsense posts to a minimun, I’d enjoy that (they get confusing). But I got many suggestions for movies to review. I won’t do them all today, but I’ll do a few.
First off:
Anchorman. First in an unkown trilogy being made by Will Ferrell. The second was Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. The 3rd one will be about figure skaters, I believe. Anyways, onto this 1970s spoof. This is another hilarious movie. I’m a big Will Ferrell fan. I think he is so funny. He started out as a nobody on SNL but he has now grown to a comedy superstar. I love him. He really pulls off Ron Gurgandy as a person so well. He has the cockiness and the stupidity rolled into one. It’s just a silly movie. That’s really what it is. Please don’t tell me that you don’t find it funny, because I will be upset. My favorite scene is the newsteam fight. The “bi-lingual blood fest.” It’s great. Where the eff did they get some of those weapons. I mean they’re pulling out chains and a bed post, axes. I like how there were little cameos from Luke Wilson and Ben Stiller and Tim Robbins. It was good, I knew they would show up somewhere (except for Tim Robbins, he came out of left field). And of course, my favorite character is Brick. Steve Carrell is also one funny guy. He makes Brick this lovable, stupid person. He throws a trident at someone and puts mayonaise in the toaster oven. That’s just great. The point of this trilogy is that Will Ferrell is playing parts of people who are famous but really have no reason to be. I mean, the people in this movie are obssessed with Ron, they think he’s the best news anchor on the planet. If you haven’t seen this movie, please do. It’s wonderful.
Second:
Another Will Ferrell movie. It’s Elf. On the outside, you think that this is a kids movie, but really, it’s not. Will plays Buddy, the human baby who was raised by elves in the North Pole. He never knew his father until one day he decided to go look for him in NYC. It’s great because he’s clueless about what goes on in the real world. He thinks that mall Santas are the real deal, but in fact, they’re fake. He eats spaghetti and syrup all day long. Besides being hysterical, it’s also a little bit sappy. But not too sappy. If you haven’t seen it, I won’t ruin it. But there is a girl, that’s all I’ll say. I don’t know if I have a favorite scene. A lot of them are pretty funny. The first time I saw the movie, I didn’t think it was as funny as I do now. You have to see it a couple of times. It was on a lot during the holidays so I watched it almost everytime it was on. It’s a good time and there’s no need to watch it only during the holidays.
More tomorrow!
